Do your kids like the outdoors? Do you enjoy a break during the summer? You might be in luck. Operation Military Kids (OMK) is a partnership organization designed to help support military children, and they offer a variety of different projects. One of their neat programs offers summer camp programs that reach children ages 6 to 18. There are over 40 camp sessions stretched across the country. The camps are free or very low cost. All the various details vary by location so check out the list and see if a program will work for you. My children attended a camp designed for military kids one year, and they loved it. I loved the time off, too.
I hope some of you can take advantage of this opportunity.

Wish I had found this blog before. The advices in this post are very helpful and I surely will read the other posts of this series too. Thank you for posting this

In the UK we have the Army Cadet Force, this is a Ministry of Defence supported youth organisation, but not a recruiting tool of the british Army, along with most military skills, fieldcraft, weapons handling and marksmanship, drill, map and compass, first aid etc the ACF also help with education and other nationally recognised awards. The cadets parade for 2 – 3 hours twice a week at their local unit. and also take part in weekend camps ( fri to sun ) at an army camp and also a minimum of a two week annual camp at one of the British Army,s bases, sennybridge, catterick etc, the ACF aim to make kids into young, self aware, self motivated people, male and female, and it does a good job too, there are many sites to look upon to see just what they do, try one. The age range is 13 to 18 and 9 months, let me just say again it is NOT recruiting tool of the British Army even though 25 to 35% of cadets do join one of the services, i hope this is of interest to you all.
