Tara Talks with a Money Therapist

Elsewhere at Military.com, Tara Crooks interviews Marcia Brixey, author of The Money Therapist.  The podcast can be listened to on your computer, or downloaded to your MP3 player.  Marcia offers great suggestions for curbing spending and making choices that make you happy, and presents the information in an engaging fashion.

One of the most interesting quick tips that she suggests in this podcast is writing down three small things that you will do in the next 30 days to improve your finances.  Here’s what I’m going to do:

  1. Call my cell phone company to find out about freezing my husband’s line while he’s deployed.
  2. Check out the interest rate that I’m earning on a small savings account.  Consider moving it to a CD, or paying off debt with it.
  3. Get the oil changed in my car, where they will also check the air pressure in my tires.

In addition to her book, Marcia also contributes to a website called MoneyWiseWomen.  The site has a lot of resources, links and tools to help you organize your finances.  I’m sure you’ll find something helpful, even if you are not a woman!
