It’s still ten days until military pay day, but the “when do I get paid” questions are coming in pretty rapidly. The next regular, active duty military pay day is Tuesday, 1 September 2015. Some service members may see their pay deposited a day or two early, depending on the policy and practices of their bank. And, because it is a Tuesday, the day you should expect your deposit isn’t always as clear as when payday is on other days of the week.
One Business Day Early
The simplest early direct deposit offer, and the one for which the most people are eligible, is having the pay deposited one business day prior to the actual payday. For this payday, that will be Monday, 31 August 2015. Banks and credit unions that use this schedule include USAA and PMCU.
Service Credit Union
Service Credit Union deposits active duty military pay TWO business days early, though a review of prior Service Credit Union pay deposits shows that sometimes it is even earlier than that. Since Service Credit Union appears to process deposits on Saturdays, I would guess that the day of deposits for this pay day will be either Friday, 28 August 2015 or Saturday, 29 August 2015. It is important to notice that I said “guess,” for this is not guaranteed to be true.
Navy Federal Credit Union
Navy Federal Credit Union is tricky when it comes to Tuesday pay days. As always, there are two different pay deposit days depending on which type of account you are using. But, the way that Navy Federal processes pay deposits means that some pay is available on Saturdays.
If you use an Active Duty checking account for your pay deposits, your pay will be available for use on the morning of Saturday, 29 August 2015.
If you use any other type of checking account for your pay deposits, your pay will be available for use on the morning of Tuesday, 1 September 2015.
Don’t forget, just seven more paychecks until Christmas – time to start planning your spending so it isn’t a big drama when the time comes.
