31 July 2015 Military Pay

Coming soon to a bank account near you:  the next regular, active duty payday is Friday, 31 July 2015.  You may see your pay deposited on a different day or at a different time than your friend, neighbor, or workmate due to the different ways in which banks process pay deposits, and the early direct deposit benefits offered by some banks.

For most military members, their pay will be deposited at some time on Friday, 31 July 2015.  If your bank or credit union has an early direct deposit scheme as a benefit for its members, you may receive your pay early.

One Business Day Early

The most common early direct deposit structure is to deposit active duty pay one business day early.  Two major military financial institutions that offer deposits one business day early include USAA and PMCU.  Because there are no weekends or holidays, one business day early is easy for this payday:  Thursday, 30 July 2015.

Two Business Days Early

The only institution that I know offers to deposit military pay two business days early is Service Credit Union.  For this payday, two business days early means that Service Credit Union members will have their active duty pay deposited on Wednesday, 27 July 2015.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union offers early direct deposit only for members who use an Active Duty checking account for their military pay.  Members who have their military pay deposited into an Active Duty checking account will have their pay deposited on Thursday, 30 July 2015.

Navy Federal Credit Union members who use any other type of checking account will have their military pay deposited on Friday, 31 July 2015.

Don’t have an Active Duty checking account?  Changing accounts is quick and easy.  You can do it online, at a branch location, or on the telephone.  Active Duty checking offers other benefits, such as ATM rebates, which make it a great choice for eligible customers.

Long Pay Period Ahead

The second half of August will see 18 days between paychecks.  If you have your money tightly budgeted, be thinking now how you will make it through those extra days.
