15 April 2015 Military Pay

The next regular, active duty military  pay day is Wednesday, 15 April 2015.  When will your pay be in your bank account and available to spend?  That depends on your bank or credit union, and sometimes the type of bank account that you use.  While the payday doesn't change, certain financial institutions offer early direct deposit as a benefit to their customers.

One Business Day Early

The most common early deposit schedule is to credit active duty military pay deposits one business day early.  This is the schedule used by both USAA and Pacific Marine Credit Union, plus some other bans and credit unions.  For this pay period, one business day early will be Tuesday, 14 April 2015.

 Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union’s policy is to deposit active duty military pay two business days early, pending the receipt of information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).  For this payday, two business days early will be Monday, 13 April 2015.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) is a little more complicated than any other bank that I know.  They have two different paydays depending on which type of account you use.  Please make sure you understand which type of account that you have.  An Active Duty checking account is one of the many types of accounts offered by Navy Federal.  You picked the best account for your situation when you opened it, and you may or may not have chosen the Active Duty account type.  Just because you are on active duty doesn't mean that you picked the Active Duty account type.

If you're not happy with your account type, it is quick and easy to change account types online, in person, or on the phone.

NFCU members who use Active Duty checking accounts will see their pay pending on Monday, 13 April 2015, to be posted overnight and available for use on Tuesday, 14 April 2015.  NFCU members who use any other type of checking account will see their pay pending on Tuesday, 14 April 2015, to be posted overnight and available for use on Wednesday, 15 April 2015.

Please remember that pay can come at any time during the day.  Last payday, I had a TON of comments and emails from people who were panicking because their pay was "late."  I was getting these emails before payday had even arrived!  In my experience, 99% of pay "problems" are resolved with a few hours patience.
