The Air Force is going over its records, and it requires your help. Air Force officials are reviewing all records that pertain to Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) BAH dependency status. Beginning 1 March 2014, and continuing through December, Air Force service members who are receiving with dependent BAH will be receiving email contact asking them to bring their marriage certificate or children’s birth certificates to their finance offices. Failure to provide the necessary documents will result in the loss of the higher, with dependent BAH. No one wants that!
In order to handle the high volume of paperwork that is required, most bases have instituted some sort of schedule based upon social security numbers. You should be notified via email when the finance office requires your information.
This shouldn’t be too strenuous, but you do need to respond. Be aware that the email will come sometime before the end of the year, and be prepared to act when you are asked.
