Has someone in your family returned from a deployment within the last year?  Then you are eligible to apply for the National Military Family Association (NMFA)'s Operation Purple Family Retreat held in February 2014 in Jackson, Wyoming.

Operation Purple® Family Retreats are designed to help families to reconnect after a deployment. Families have the opportunity to spend time outdoors, try new things, and enjoy time together.  Each four-day retreat includes activities led by experienced outdoor educators, exercises led by facilitators from Families OverComing Under Stress (FOCUS), and the opportunity to speak with counselors who understand the challenges of military life.  Most importantly, it is a time to be together!

The upcoming family retreat runs from 14 February 2014 to 18 February 2014 and will be held at the Teton Science School in Jackson, Wyoming.  Activities will include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and exploring Grand Teton National Park.

The entire event is free, and there is a $200 stipend to help pay for the costs of transportation to the event location.

I really, really, really wish that our family had gone to one of these events after my husband's last deployment.  I hope that some of you are able to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
