14 December 2012 Military Pay

It's the most wonderful expensive time of the year...and thankfully, there is one more military payday before Christmas.  The next regular, active duty military payday is Friday, 14 December 2012.  Please remember that, depending on your banks policies, this may be a long pay period for many people.  The December end-of-month payday isn't until Monday, 31 December 2012.

With this payday, Friday, 14 December 2012, most people will have their military pay deposited some time on that day.  Some military-friendly banks and credit unions offer earlier deposit of military pay as a courtesy to their customers.  The exact day and time will depend on the bank.  If you are not sure how your banking institution handles military pay deposits, give them a call.  It is better to have the exact correct information than to be guessing.

The most common offer is to deposit active duty military pay "one business day early."  This offer, which includes USAA and PMCU, would mean that this payday, deposits would be made on Thursday, 13 December 2012.

If you bank with Navy Federal Credit Union, the scheduled deposit depends on the type of checking account into which you have your pay direct deposited.  If you have an Active Duty checking account, your pay will show as pending on Wednesday, 12 December 2012, to be posted overnight and available for use on Thursday, 13 December 2012.  If you have any other type of checking account, your pay will show as pending on Thursday, 13 December 2012, to be posted overnight and available for use on Friday, 14 December 2012.

Service Credit Union offers to deposit pay "up to two business days early," pending the reciept of pay information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.  Service Credit Union customers will most likely have their pay deposited on Wednesday, 12 December 2012.  However, this is never a guarantee and you should not be counting on that deposit.

As always, pay can come at any time of day, and sometimes it feels like it is never going to be deposited.  See What Time Will I Get Paid?  for more information.
