Trees for Troops 2012

Sometimes, I am overwhelmed with the volume and variety of ways in which the general public and various corporations show their gratitude and generosity to the military.  A non-profit group called the Christmas Spirit Foundation joins each year with tree growers to provide free trees for military families in the US, and they also send trees to deployed units overseas.

The Christmas Spirit Foundation was founded in and began distributing trees to military troops in 2005.  Since then, they've given out over 100,000 trees.  Fed-Ex partners with the Christmas Spirit Foundation by helping to deliver all those trees.

Tree distribution started yesterday and continues through December 13th at locations across the United States.  Local military families should check with their installations community services to find out the location and times of tree distribution.

Please, say a hearty thank you if you receive a tree, and be gracious if you don't.  I certainly don't want this to turn into another bad-press situation for military families.

What a great way to get into the holiday spirit!
