Just in time for summer, the US Geologic Survey (USGS) of the Department of the Interior is offering FREE, one year “America the Beautiful,” The US Parks and National Recreation Lands Pass. Usually $80, each pass is valid for entrance to Fish and Wildlife Service and National Park Service sites that charge for entrance, and standard fees at Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation sites. In addition, the pass allows entrance for the pass holder plus three adults at locations that charge fees per person, and for all passengers in a vehicle at locations that charge fees per vehicle.
Passes can be obtained by showing your Common Access Card (CAC) or US Military Dependent ID at most federal lands that charge an entrance fee. Please be sure to call ahead and make sure that they have the military pass in stock before traveling to a site.
The pass does not cover extra amenities that require an extra fee, such as camping, ferries, special activities, etc. It also does not cover the activities of private concessionaires operating on federal lands.
