Government Shutdown: Child Care and Schools

FacebookXPinterestEmailEmailEmailShare

In yesterday's press release, Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn III Message to DOD Workforce on Potential Government Shutdown, it states that educational activities will be considered essential and exempt from a government shutdown.  I had previously been told that child care centers would not close, and this new information seems to include Department of Defense Educational Activity (DoDEA) schools.

I know that this is great news for military folks who would still be required to report to work but were concerned about child care.  All CDCs should be open and running as usual.

Sorry, school kids, no extended spring break for you!
