It is that time of year again! The Defense Commissary Agency (DECA) scholarship program is accepting applications through 22 February 2011. This is a great program because at least one $1500 scholarship will be awarded at every commissary that receives a qualified application.
The DECA scholarship program is open to unmarried military children, under age 23, of active-duty, retired, reserve, and National Guard service members. It is also available to the surviving children of military members who died while on active duty or in a retired status. This scholarship is only available for full-time, undergraduate studies. Students must have a 3.0 grade point average in order to receive this scholarship.
Applications can be obtained at your local commissary or online. Completed applications should be returned to the commissary where your family shops, or the commissary closest to your sponsor's duty station.
