Wow! Things have been so busy here at The Paycheck Chronicles that there has hardly been space to squeeze in these book giveaways. Today's contest is for a copy of Shocked, Appalled and Dismayed! How To Write Letters of Complaint That Get Results. The title is pretty self-explanatory and it's got good tips and samples inside.
The question of the day: Do you rent your home or do you own it? Why did you make that choice? Would you choose differently if you had the chance?
Here's my answer: We own the house we currently live in, but we'll rent (or living in housing) when we move this month. We bought here because it seemed like a smart move, and it has mostly worked out. I like knowing that my kids can stay in the same school and there is no fear of losing our lease and having to move. I hate it when things need to be fixed, and with a fifty year old house, things always need to be fixed. It is expensive and inconvenient and I love being able to call a landlord or housing and saying "Come fix my broken stuff." If I had the chance to do it over again, I think I would buy again, but perhaps a different house. I didn't thoroughly anticipate how our family's needs would change over the last six and and a half years. When we moved in, our kids were 5, 4, 2 and 1. Now they are 12, 10, 9 and 7 and while this is still a great house, it works differently for us now than it did when we bought it.
Same rules: the contest is open for five days and will end at noon on Wednesday, June 9th. Winner will be chosen by random number generator from appropriate comments. Thanks for playing!
